- Encourage stronger enforcement of property maintenance and zoning
rules/laws, and to concentrate the city's code enforcement resources in
areas of greatest need.
- Promote, preserve and protect the quality of life and the value of property in the Tri-park Neighborhood District.
- Protect and promote the visual quality of the district.
- Enhance the attractiveness of the Tri Park District as location choices for homebuyers and for financial investments.
The city of Laurel includes residential areas which are, or which may
in the future, be affected by problems such as declining property
values, lack of maintenance, physical deterioration, disinvestment,
abandonment, changes in ownership patterns, or changes in land use.
These changes, if not controlled, have potential of damaging the city's
tax base and economic vitality, and spreading to affect other areas.
The city has, over the years, invested large sums of money to provide
adequate infrastructure including streets, water and sewer in existing
residential neighborhoods.
The deterioration of residential neighborhoods can in many cases be
slowed or stopped with effective enforcement of property codes and
zoning ordinances.
